ReFantazio: A Promising Franchise Poised for Success

Hashino, when discussing the studio's future goals, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Currently, there are no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel, according to Hashino. His focus remains on completing the current project. Interestingly, he revealed the game was originally conceived as a third major JRPG franchise alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship title for Atlus.

While a direct sequel is unlikely, the team is already working on their next project. However, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has been a significant success for Atlus, achieving their most successful platform launch to date.

The game's peak concurrent player count exceeded 85,961, surpassing Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
