The PlayStation Portal has never seen an official discount, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still score a great deal. Right now, Amazon Resale—formerly known as Amazon Warehouse—offers the **Used: Like New** version of the PS Portal for just **$156.02 shipped**, down from the standard retail price of $199. That’s a solid **20% savings**. While it's unclear whether a Sony warranty is included, Amazon Resale items come with the same 30-day return policy as new purchases, so you’re protected if anything goes wrong. Given how popular this device is, we expect these units to sell out fast.

The PlayStation Portal is Sony’s dedicated handheld streaming device designed specifically for PS5 owners. It resembles a split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen nestled between the two halves. This allows you to stream your PS5 games remotely at up to 60fps, turning your console into a portable gaming powerhouse. The device replicates all the features of the DualSense—including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen—offering a seamless extension of your home console experience.
Originally, the Portal required a direct connection to your PS5, limiting its use to those who owned one. However, Sony recently updated the functionality: you no longer need a PS5 to enjoy the Portal. Instead, users can now stream directly via the PlayStation Now cloud service, granting access to over 120 titles, including Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. A subscription to the top tier of PlayStation Plus is required (currently $18/month), which offers a more budget-friendly alternative compared to buying a PS5 and full-priced games separately.
While the PS Remote Play app can also be used on smartphones or other handhelds like the Steam Deck, the Portal delivers a more intuitive and immersive experience without requiring additional setup or sacrificing key DualSense features.
PlayStation Portal Review Highlights by Seth Macy
“The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I’ve ever grown to love after entering with heavy skepticism. It’s vastly superior to using a phone with a clip-on controller and performs far better than I expected. I truly appreciate being able to play my PS5 games anywhere in the house with decent WiFi, especially when the rest of the family was hogging the TV to play Switch—ironically enough. Keep in mind that the Portal isn't a standalone device and requires a PS5 to function. The main drawbacks are its inability to connect to public WiFi networks that require browser login and the lack of Bluetooth audio support. Still, it’s currently the best solution available for PS5 remote play, and aside from those two odd limitations, I’d consider it a must-have for any PS5 owner who enjoys handheld gaming or needs an alternative to the living room TV.”
