Semine or Hashek: Best Outcome in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's Necessary Evil Quest

Apr 04,2025 Author: Jason

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with some of the game's most challenging moral dilemmas. If you're pondering whether to side with Semine or Hashek during this quest, here's a comprehensive guide to help you make an informed decision.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough

After completing the main quest "Back in the Saddle," you can embark on "Necessary Evil" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. In this quest, von Bergow assigns Hans and Henry the task of gathering intelligence from Nebakov Fortress and interrogating a prisoner. The interrogation's outcome is crucial, as it will decide whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This walkthrough focuses on choosing Semine, where the most difficult decisions await.

Prisoner Interrogation Answers

Prisoner Interrogation in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

During the prisoner interrogation, you'll need to pass several Speech checks. You can either use your Speech skills to threaten him or resort to torture to extract the information. Here are the Speech check requirements:

  • “We’ll put in a good word for you.” (20 Impression)
  • “Istvan and I are old acquaintances.” (20 Impression)
  • “Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you.” (17 Intimidation)

After the interrogation, you'll uncover the identity of the bandit leader and Semine's involvement. When reporting back to von Bergow, you can either inform him that Young Semine is collaborating with the bandits, leading to an attack on the town, or claim that no one helped the bandits, which will direct the attack towards Nebakov.

Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?

Opting to attack Semine requires you to ride with the party and face more complex decisions involving Hashek. Choosing to attack Nebakov allows von Bergow to handle the bandits there, concluding the "Necessary Evil" quest immediately. This option might be preferable if you wish to avoid the bloodshed at Semine. However, from a moral perspective, letting Semine go unpunished is problematic, given his actions have caused many innocent deaths. Personally, I chose to attack Semine, as it felt like the right course of action, despite having formed connections with the people there earlier in the game.

If you decide to attack Semine, ensure you ride with the party. Falling behind could result in the entire town being massacred. Accompanying them gives you a chance to intervene and help Semine.

Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Decision between Semine and Hashek in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Before setting out, you can talk to Hashek, who clearly seeks revenge on Semine and favors the most violent approach. Upon arriving at Semine, you must decide whether to side with Semine or Hashek. To support Hashek, choose the dialogue option “Hashek is right.” To support Semine, select “Olda deserves a trial.”

I recommend siding with Semine. Although Semine's involvement with the bandits was wrong, Hashek's desire to burn everything down would lead to more innocent casualties. Playing Henry as a morally upright character, it made sense to oppose Hashek's destructive intentions.

After defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee. This will advance the quest and lead to your next objective of reporting back to von Bergow. If you side with Hashek, the entire town will be killed, and you'll have the option to deal with Olda in the tower, either sparing him or handing him over to Hashek.

Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?

The final part of the quest involves Henry and Hans reporting to von Bergow. You can either remain silent and let Hans handle the conversation or have Henry speak up about the events at Semine.

I suggest staying silent and letting Hans talk. Hans is more adept at diplomacy, and this approach will keep both men in von Bergow's favor, leading to plans for the next move at Nebakov.

That covers everything you need to know about choosing between Semine and Hashek in the "Necessary Evil" quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. For more tips and information on the game, including romance options and where to find Goatskin, be sure to check out The Escapist.
