The Sims franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary with great excitement, and while Electronic Arts has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for the festivities, it appears that more surprises could be on the way.
Today, The Sims released an intriguing teaser filled with nods to the first two games in the series. This has sparked widespread speculation among fans that these beloved classics might make a comeback. Although there's no official word from EA yet, insiders at Kotaku have hinted that by the end of the week, Electronic Arts and Maxis Games could launch digital PC versions of The Sims 1 and 2, complete with all their original expansion packs.
Should these rumors prove true, the burning question is whether there will also be a console release, and if so, when might it happen? Given the lucrative potential of tapping into players' nostalgia, it seems improbable that EA would let this opportunity slip by.
The Sims 1 and 2 were launched many years ago, and currently, legal avenues for playing these titles are virtually nonexistent. A re-release would undoubtedly thrill many fans of the franchise.
