Sony Updates PS5 and PS4: Key Changes Revealed

Mar 27,2025 Author: Charlotte

Sony has recently rolled out updates for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, enhancing various features and improving the overall user experience.

The PS5 update, version 25.02-11.00.00, is a substantial 1.3GB download that brings significant improvements to the console's activities and communication features. Now, activity details are fully displayed on cards, making it easier for players to see what they need without any clutter. Importantly, potential spoilers are still hidden, ensuring that your gaming experience remains unspoiled. Additionally, the update introduces support for Unicode 16.0 emojis, allowing for more expressive communication in messages.

For those concerned with family settings, the update adjusts parental controls. When the restriction level is set to Late Teens or Older, Communication and User-Generated Content will now default to Restrict. However, if you had previously set the level to Late Teens or Older, your existing settings will remain unchanged and will be displayed as Customize. As always, Sony has also focused on enhancing the system software's performance and stability, along with improving messages and usability on various screens.

On the other hand, the PS4 update, version 12.50, is much more streamlined. It primarily focuses on improving messages and usability on certain screens, ensuring that even older console users benefit from a smoother experience.

Sony's commitment to its gaming community is evident not only in these updates but also in their continued support for older consoles, such as the nearly 20-year-old PlayStation 3. This dedication ensures that all PlayStation users, regardless of their console generation, can enjoy the best possible gaming experience.
