The eagerly anticipated public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an early glimpse into the forthcoming Update 7.0 and its detailed patch notes. Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive have released preliminary patch notes for the PTS version, which cover "most" of the features included in the 7.0 update. However, they caution that the final version of the patch notes may differ as they continue to refine and fix bugs.
Exclusively available to PC players, the PTS introduces a wealth of new content and enhancements. Update 7.0 brings a fresh PvE mission called Exfiltration, a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol—available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, as well as the introduction of prestige ranks for endgame-focused PvE gameplay and private PvP lobbies.
For fans of customization, the update doesn't disappoint. It adds new colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with options for Bulwark cloth recoloring and hands recoloring. Additionally, PvP customization rewards have been boosted by 50%. Exclusive skins like the Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and the Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class are also part of the PTS.
Significant balance changes are also a highlight of Update 7.0. All classes now enjoy an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE, with the Assault class finally able to wield the Power Sword without needing mods. The update includes a comprehensive list of tweaks to various weapons, which players are encouraged to explore in the patch notes.
One of the most welcome updates addresses the griefing issue on the Inferno Operation. If a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage of the level, other players will be automatically teleported there after a notification and a short delay, preventing indefinite delays by players remaining outside the assembly area.
The patch notes detail extensive weapon adjustments, including changes to the Heavy Bolt Rifle, Bolt Rifle, Auto Bolt Rifle, Plasma Incinerator, Stalker Bolt Rifle, Bolt Carbine, Occulus Bolt Carbine, Melta Rifle, Instigator Bolt Carbine, Bolt Sniper Rifle, Las Fusil, Heavy Bolter, Heavy Plasma Incinerator, Multi-Melta, Bolt Pistol, Plasma Pistol, Heavy Bolt Pistol, Chainsword, Thunder Hammer, Power Fist, Combat Knife, and Power Sword. These adjustments range from increased damage and ammo reserves to completely reworked perks and new mechanics.
Additionally, the update introduces enhancements to specific operations like Obelisk and Inferno, along with numerous bug fixes across various weapons and classes, ensuring a smoother and more balanced gameplay experience.
The launch of the PTS and the detailed patch notes for Update 7.0 demonstrate Saber Interactive's commitment to continually improving Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, addressing player feedback, and enhancing the overall gaming experience.
