Dec 25,2025 Author: Hazel

Global pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 were scheduled to begin on April 9, but economic disruptions stemming from new tariffs prompted Nintendo to delay U.S. and Canadian orders. Meanwhile, pre-orders proceeded as planned in other regions like the UK.

Nintendo's official FAQ states that early access invitations for the My Nintendo Store will start rolling out May 8, 2025. Retail pre-order details remain unavailable at this time.

Nintendo hasn't confirmed whether previously announced pricing will hold for the Switch 2 console, games (including premium $79.99 titles), and accessories. Industry analysts speculate the base console price could potentially exceed $449.99 due to tariff impacts, though Nintendo has made no official statements.

Notably, Nintendo is offering a limited-time bundle featuring Mario Kart World with the Switch 2 for $499.99 - effectively discounting the game by $30.

Nintendo Switch 2 U.S. Price List:

  • Console Only: $449.99

  • Mario Kart World (Standalone): $79.99
  • Donkey Kong Bananza: $69.99

IGN has compiled expert analysis examining Nintendo's move to $80 game pricing for the Switch 2 generation.

The pricing strategy recalls commentary from former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé regarding the Wii Sports inclusion with Wii consoles, drawing parallels to current discussions about the Switch 2's paid Welcome Tour tutorial.
