System Shock 2 Remaster: 25th Anniversary Release Date and Features Unveiled

Nightdive Studios has officially announced that the much-anticipated System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will launch on June 26, 2025. This modernized rendition of the iconic 1999 sci-fi horror action role-playing game is set to make its debut not only on PC but also on consoles for the very first time. You can look forward to playing on Windows PC through various platforms like Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and the Humble Bundle Store, as well as on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.

Utilizing their proprietary KEX Engine, Nightdive Studios has completely rebuilt System Shock 2 for today's platforms. This remaster brings with it a host of enhancements, including upgraded visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, improved performance, cross-play co-op multiplayer, and robust mod support, ensuring a contemporary gaming experience.

Here's the official synopsis for System Shock 2:

Set 42 years after the events of the first System Shock, the notorious SHODAN and her army of ruthless mutants have taken over the starship Von Braun. Players take on the role of a soldier who wakes from cryo-sleep to find cybernetic implants fused to his body. As he delves into the chilling secrets of the abandoned starship, he must enhance his upgradable skills, wield powerful weapons, and harness paranormal psionic abilities to fend off SHODAN's monstrous creations and confront her god-like ego.
