New TD Game Sphere Defense Inspired by geoDefense

Sphere Defense, a new tower defense game for Android developed by Tomnoki Studio, pays homage to the classic geoDefense by David Whatley, which captivated players over a decade ago. The developer, inspired by their childhood experiences with the game, aimed to recreate its beautifully simple yet challenging gameplay.

What's the Premise?

In Sphere Defense, the Earth, or 'The Sphere,' faces imminent destruction from invaders. Humanity has been forced underground, where they've been developing new technology to fight back. After enduring years of oppression, the underground dwellers have finally amassed enough firepower to launch a counterattack. As the player, you take the helm of this resistance, tasked with saving the planet.

The gameplay remains true to the classic tower defense formula. You strategically place units, each with unique strengths, to fend off waves of enemies. As you accumulate kills, you earn resources that allow you to expand or upgrade your arsenal. The game's difficulty increases, requiring more strategic planning at higher levels.

Sphere Defense offers three difficulty levels: easy, normal, and hard, each containing 10 stages. Each stage can last between 5 to 15 minutes, ensuring a variety of gameplay experiences. For a sneak peek at the action, check out the video below:

Set Up Turrets to Mow Your Enemies Down

Sphere Defense features seven types of units to help you survive the onslaught. Attack units include the Standard Attack Turret for single-target eliminations, the Area Attack Turret for dealing with groups of enemies, and the Piercing Attack Turret, ideal for targeting enemies in a line.

Support units, such as the Cooling Turret and the Incendiary Turret, enhance the effectiveness of your attack units. Additionally, support attack units like the Fixed-Point Attack Unit for targeted missile strikes and the Linear Attack Unit for deploying satellite laser attacks provide varied strategic options.
