Ubisoft has unveiled exciting new details about the gameplay features in the upcoming title, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, with a particular focus on the equipment and progression systems for the dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. A highlight for fans is the enhanced functionality of the iconic Hidden Blade, which promises to elevate the stealth experience to new heights.
Yasuke and Naoe come with unique skill trees that align with their distinct combat approaches. Yasuke's tree is tailored to the art of samurai combat, enabling players to hone his powerful techniques. In contrast, Naoe's tree is dedicated to the stealth and agility of a shinobi, offering a range of abilities that enhance her covert operations. Players can allocate skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities or refine their fighting styles, with mastery points earned through completing open-world objectives or defeating formidable enemies like the Daisyo samurai.
To maintain a balanced progression, both characters will develop at an even pace, ensuring neither falls behind. Unlocking potent abilities often involves specific in-game actions, such as tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" scale, which players can advance by studying manuscripts or praying at shrines. Achieving the sixth Knowledge rank unlocks an entirely new skill tree, adding depth to the progression system.
Ubisoft also detailed the equipment system, where items are categorized into five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players can upgrade their gear at a blacksmith and customize its appearance to suit their style. Special perks on armor and weapons can significantly alter gameplay dynamics, offering strategic advantages in combat and exploration.
The Hidden Blade remains a central element, now capable of delivering instant kills with a single, precise strike. This feature is sure to be a fan favorite, enhancing the thrill of stealth assassinations.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set to launch globally on March 20, available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, promising an immersive experience with its rich progression and equipment systems.
