Veilguard Has No Denuvo DRM Because They \"Trust You\"

BioWare has shared both exciting and disappointing news for fans of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. On the positive side, players won't have to contend with the often problematic Digital Rights Management (DRM) software, Denuvo. "Veilguard will not have Denuvo on PC. We trust you," announced Dragon Age: The Veilguard project director Michael Gamble on Twitter (X). This decision has been met with enthusiasm from the gaming community, as DRM like Denuvo is frequently criticized for causing performance issues. One fan expressed their support, stating, "I support this. I will buy your game upon launch. Thank you," in response to Gamble's announcement.

Additionally, BioWare has confirmed that Veilguard will not require players to be always online, further enhancing the gaming experience. However, this no-DRM approach comes with a downside for PC players: there will be no preload option available. This is particularly significant given that Veilguard requires a substantial 100GB of storage space. While this may disappoint some PC gamers, console players can still enjoy the benefit of preloading the game. Xbox players with early access can install it immediately, whereas PlayStation early access users will need to wait until October 29.

Alongside the DRM announcement, BioWare has also released the system requirements for Veilguard. Players with high-end PCs can look forward to utilizing advanced features such as Ray Tracing and uncapped frame rates. For those with less powerful setups, BioWare has ensured the game remains accessible. The minimum PC specs are designed to be inclusive, while console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can choose between fidelity and performance modes, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. To fully enjoy Ray Tracing on PC, you'll need at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT graphics card.
