War Robots Joins Forces with Gundam Designer Kunio Okawara
When it comes to mecha designs, Japan remains the undisputed leader in the genre. The country pioneered two fundamental mecha styles - the realistic "real robot" and the fantastical "super robot." In an exciting development, My.Games' War Robots is collaborating with veteran mecha designer Kunio Okawara for an exclusive in-game creation!
Okawara is best known as the co-creator of the original Gundam design alongside writer Yoshiyuki Tomino. This instantly recognizable icon of the real robot genre has appeared in numerous anime series and even major Hollywood productions like Ready Player One.
Exclusive SWORD Unit Design Coming Soon
Players will soon have the opportunity to pilot Okawara's original creation - the SWORD Unit 190, developed in-universe by the DSC Corporation. The legendary designer has even created accompanying designs for optional drones and plasma weapons that can equip this mech.
While you'll need to wait a bit longer to command this new unit, it will take center stage in the upcoming MECHA Raider S.W.O.R.D event running from May 20th to June 1st. This special event pays homage to the real robot genre that Okawara helped define.
