World of Warcraft has delayed the return of its popular Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While a launch before the end of January 14th is still the goal, players will need to be patient.
Plunderstorm, a pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was slated to return on January 14th, 2025, with both returning and brand-new rewards.
However, unexpected issues arose during the planned rollout, resulting in a delay beyond the initial eight-hour server maintenance period. A WoW community manager, Kaivax, confirmed these issues, stating that a new launch time is currently unavailable.
When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14th, pending resolution of unexpected issues.
Fortunately, regular WoW servers are back online. Players can use this time to complete Siren Isle weeklies, participate in the Turbulent Timeways event, or engage in other activities within The War Within.
This second iteration of Plunderstorm includes new features such as the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the current delays.
Despite the game mode delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are active. Viewers can earn the Coward’s Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch streamer before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm, allowing players to earn the reward while waiting for the event's return.
