Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has revealed the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, set for January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual installment of the event and the first Xbox game showcase of the new year. The event will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This announcement follows earlier rumors circulating around a January 9th reveal.

Spotlight Games:

The showcase will feature at least three highly anticipated titles:

• Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
• Doom: The Dark Ages: id Software's latest entry in the Doom franchise, initially unveiled in June 2024 and showcased at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 launch is currently speculated.
• South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few), first announced in June 2023. A release date is expected.

Beyond the Confirmed Lineup:

Previous Developer Directs have exceeded 40 minutes in length and featured multiple game reveals. Given this precedent, the 2025 event likely holds further surprises beyond these three confirmed titles. Past showcases have included titles like Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2.
