Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates on Upcoming Game Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on several highly anticipated games, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in their latest financial report. These updates offer valuable insight into the development stages and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Nears Completion
The sequel to the 2019 hit Control has reached a crucial milestone: production readiness. This signifies the game is fully playable, and the development team is now focusing on scaling up production, including rigorous testing and performance optimization to ensure it meets quality standards. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, the multiplayer game set within the Control universe, is currently in full production. The development team is actively creating multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and refine gameplay. This marks Remedy's first foray into live-service games, and it will be launched using a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne Remake Updates
Alan Wake 2's recent expansion, Night Springs, has received positive critical acclaim and strong player response. The game has already recouped most of its development and marketing costs, indicating strong sales performance. A physical Deluxe Edition is launching on October 22nd, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders are open on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is currently working on a complete, playable version, focusing on key gameplay enhancements to distinguish it from previous iterations.
Future Focus on Control and Alan Wake Franchises
Remedy's future strategy emphasizes the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Having acquired full rights to both IPs, Remedy is carefully considering self-publishing options and other business models, with further announcements expected by year's end. They are exploring self-publishing and potential partnerships to maximize long-term success.
The company explicitly stated that growing and expanding these franchises, connected through the Remedy Connected Universe, will be a key focus. They also continue their work on the Max Payne franchise, originally a Remedy creation.
Expect further updates and announcements regarding Remedy's plans for these franchises and the progress of their upcoming games throughout the year.
