Firaxis Delays Civ 7's Inaugural In-Game Event to Prioritize Quality of Life Enhancements
Civ 7 Focuses on Player Experience Improvements

The highly anticipated first in-game event for Civilization 7 (Civ 7), "Natural Wonder Battle," has been postponed. Firaxis Games announced this decision in a February 28, 2025 update, prioritizing the implementation of crucial quality-of-life improvements instead. The team stated that this delay will allow them to better address player feedback and enhance the overall gaming experience.
Update 1.1.0, launching March 4, 2025 (with a separate release schedule for Nintendo Switch), will concentrate on these improvements. While the event was initially slated for this update, Firaxis confirmed its postponement to a future release.
Since its early access launch, Civ 7 has received mixed reviews, with several players expressing concerns about certain features, particularly the user interface (UI). Firaxis acknowledged this feedback, assuring players that improvements are underway.
Update 1.1.0 Addresses Community Concerns

Update 1.1.0 directly addresses community feedback. While complete patch notes will be released upon launch, key improvements include:
- The addition of a new, free natural wonder: the Bermuda Triangle.
- Significant UI enhancements to address player concerns.
- Substantial adjustments to the Modern Age's Cultural Legacy Path and Victory, improving AI performance in achieving Cultural Victories.
- The launch of the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection (automatically available to owners of relevant editions).
March 25, 2025 Update: Continued UI Focus

A subsequent major update is scheduled for March 25, 2025 (subject to change), further emphasizing UI improvements. Firaxis highlighted this ongoing commitment, stating it's a top priority across multiple updates.
Future plans include features such as an extended "one more turn" option beyond the Modern Age, auto-explore functionality, new map sizes (excluding Switch), and enhanced multiplayer support. While some features might arrive as early as April, Firaxis acknowledges that development timelines are subject to change.
Sid Meier's Civilization 7 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Stay tuned for further updates!
