Deltarune enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming Switch 2 version of the game. Announced during the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, the game not only includes chapters 3 and 4 but also introduces exclusive features tailored for the next-gen console. One of the standout features of the Switch 2 version of Deltarune is a unique room designed to utilize the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Toby Fox, the game's developer, shared in a Fangamer newsletter, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!" This innovative feature promises to offer a fresh gameplay experience exclusive to the Switch 2.
For those playing on non-Switch 2 devices, the special room will still be accessible, but with a different control scheme. Additionally, players can seamlessly import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring continuity in their gaming journey.
Deltarune is set to be priced at $24.99, which includes Chapters 1 and 2, along with the new releases of Chapters 3 and 4. Initially released in 2018 and 2021 respectively, Chapters 1 and 2 were free, but it was previously announced that future chapters (3-5) would be paid content. However, Toby Fox has now confirmed that all upcoming chapters will be added as free updates. This means that players only need to purchase the game once to enjoy all future content at no additional cost. Fox expressed his hope that players would feel the game offers exceptional value, stating, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The game's soundtrack will also be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Future chapters will see additional songs added for free, enhancing the value proposition for fans. Deltarune aims to deliver a comprehensive and rewarding experience, ensuring that every penny spent feels well worth it.
DELTARUNE Chapters 1-4 are slated for release on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Switch 2. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
