Dusk: A New Mobile Multiplayer App Aims to Disrupt the Market
Dusk, a recently funded mobile multiplayer app from entrepreneurs Bjarke Felbo and Sanjay Guruprasad, is aiming to capitalize on the booming mobile multiplayer gaming market. This social platform allows users to quickly and easily play games and team up with friends.
Felbo and Guruprasad's previous venture, the companion app Rune for PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile, boasts five million installs before its closure, demonstrating their experience in the mobile gaming space. While Dusk is significantly different, it leverages that experience.
Dusk acts as a game creation platform, hosting custom-made games playable directly within the app. Think of it as a streamlined, mobile-first version of Xbox Live or Steam, focusing on its own library of titles. The app also includes built-in chat functionality for seamless communication with friends.

The Key Challenge: Game Selection
The primary challenge for Dusk lies in its reliance on its own, internally developed games. While some titles like mini-golf and 3D racing show promise, the lack of established, big-name games could be a hurdle.
However, Dusk offers a significant advantage: cross-platform play across browsers, iOS, and Android. This simple, lightweight solution could prove attractive in a market where platforms like Discord are actively integrating gaming features. Only time will tell if this approach will succeed.
