Evil Dead: The Game, the beloved asymmetric multiplayer title inspired by the iconic action horror franchise, has been officially delisted from digital storefronts by its publisher. Launched in 2022 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, the game received an enthusiastic 8/10 review from IGN, which praised its thrilling gameplay despite its rough edges, mirroring the charm of the horror/comedy films it's based on.
Despite the release of a Game of the Year Edition the following year, the title struggled to maintain player engagement. This was evident when the planned Nintendo Switch version was canceled in September 2023, alongside a halt in content development.
Now, three years post-launch, Evil Dead: The Game has been permanently removed from sale. However, fans who have already purchased the game can breathe a sigh of relief as the servers will remain online, allowing existing players to continue enjoying the game.
In a statement on the game’s Steam page, developer and publisher Saber Interactive confirmed the delisting:
We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.
We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support.
The decision has led to a wave of negative reviews on the game's Steam page, with many players mourning the game's effective end, contributing to its overall 'mixed' user review rating. Amidst the disappointment, one player with over 380 hours of gameplay left a positive note, saying, "The end is nigh. It was fun while it lasted, lads. I mean that."
Saber Interactive, also known for the success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 last year, is not slowing down. The studio is currently working on several exciting projects, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender game, Turok: Origins, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3.
Few topics spark as much debate in the RPG community as turn-based gameplay. While modern action-oriented systems have gained popularity, the classic mechanics of turn-based games continue to hold a special place for many players. With the recent release of *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, the convers
