"Game Freak Unveils Leaked Pokémon Multiplayer Game"
Jun 26,2025Author: Claire
After months of speculation and leaks, Pokémon fans finally have an official glimpse into *Pokémon Champions*, a brand-new multiplayer-focused battle game developed through a collaboration between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works — the latter being a newly formed joint venture between The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the studio behind *Pokémon Brilliant Diamond* and *Shining Pearl*.
As revealed in the latest Pokémon Presents presentation, *Pokémon Champions* centers around competitive Pokémon battles, staying true to the franchise’s classic turn-based combat mechanics while expanding into a dynamic online environment. The reveal trailer showcased support for both Mega Evolution and Terastalization, signaling that the game will incorporate a wide array of battle mechanics from different Pokémon generations. This suggests a deep, inclusive experience that could appeal to both veteran trainers and newcomers alike.
One of the most exciting features announced is the integration with *Pokémon Home*. This means players will be able to transfer their Pokémon from previous titles into *Pokémon Champions*, finally giving purpose to those hundreds of Pokémon collecting digital dust in storage boxes across generations.
Platform Availability and Language Support
Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, *Pokémon Champions* did not receive a specific release date during its debut. However, it was confirmed that the game will launch with support for Latin American Spanish alongside other languages previously available in mainline Pokémon titles.
Connection to Past Leaks
This title appears to be the same project previously referred to as *Pokémon Synapse*, which first surfaced in last year’s “Freak Leak” — a large-scale data leak involving internal Game Freak documents, unreleased games, meeting notes, and early Pokémon designs. At the time, details were sparse, but it was known that the game was being co-developed by Game Freak and ILCA. While some speculated it might resemble *Splatoon* in structure, this latest reveal confirms a more traditional, yet innovative, approach rooted in competitive battling rather than a stylized action shooter.
