Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Ghostly Reconnaissance

In Phasmophobia, tackling the most elusive specters often requires employing risky yet rewarding Cursed Possessions. The Haunted Mirror stands out as a particularly useful, relatively safe option. This guide explains its functionality.

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror offers significant advantages with minimal risk, making it a highly recommended Cursed Object. Its core function remains consistent across game updates: providing a panoramic view of the ghost's current preferred room. This significantly speeds up location identification, allowing for strategic equipment placement before things get dangerous.

Typically found hanging on a wall (as seen in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or on the floor in its predetermined spot, the Haunted Mirror, like all Cursed Objects, spawns in a fixed location on each map; the type of Cursed Object is randomized.

To use it, simply pick it up and interact with it using the designated button (mouse or controller). The reflection will reveal the ghost's favored area. However, remember that on Professional difficulty and above, the ghost's location can shift after a period.

Caution: Prolonged gazing into the mirror depletes sanity. Holding it for the entire duration results in shattering and triggers a Cursed Hunt at your precise location. Therefore, utilize it with ample sanity and a clear understanding of the reflected image.

Cursed Possessions ("Cursed Objects") are unique, randomly spawning items in Phasmophobia. Their appearance depends on difficulty and Challenge Mode participation.

Unlike standard equipment, which aids ghost detection and evidence gathering with minimal risk, Cursed Objects provide shortcuts to manipulate the ghost, but at a considerably higher risk to your character's well-being.

Risk levels vary among Cursed Objects, leaving the decision of usage to the players. No penalty exists for avoiding them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw

This concludes the guide on utilizing the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia. For more Phasmophobia guides and news, including the 2025 Roadmap & Preview, visit The Escapist.
