Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

Feb 25,2025 Author: Matthew

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal, and a solid weapon is crucial for any successful build. While starting with basic equipment, players unlock opportunities to acquire more effective weapons tailored to their preferred playstyles. This game blends roguelike and extraction game elements, resulting in a unique approach to weapon acquisition.

Acquiring New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

Exploration is key. New gear, including weapons, is discovered within Overgrowths. Focus on sword or pistol icons on the map to target Blades (melee) and Rails (ranged) respectively. Blades offer varied movesets and abilities, while Rails provide diverse ranged functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold being the most potent. Rarity directly correlates with weapon stats.

To save discovered weapons for later use, press the Cache button instead of Equip. These cached weapons can be equipped before starting subsequent runs by adjusting your loadout.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond finding weapons during gameplay, players can purchase new starting equipment from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants have limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. Check back frequently to see what new items become available.

Weapon Upgrades

Weapon upgrades are possible at the Outpost merchants, but first, unlock the upgrade feature by increasing your merchant affinity. This requires Golden Rations, a rare resource obtained through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations strategically due to their scarcity.

Death results in a durability loss (one pip) for equipped weapons. Repeated deaths will eventually break your gear.
