Jak & Daxter: Misty Island Power Cells Guide

Misty Island looms ominously in the coastal mists throughout early regions of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. As the site of the game's pivotal opening incident where Daxter underwent his unfortunate transformation into an Ottsel, it's unsurprising our heroes initially avoid returning. Yet those who dare explore this hazardous isle will discover hidden secrets and valuable collectibles - if they can find safe passage.

To access Misty Island in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, you must first assist the fisherman by catching 200 pounds of quality fish at the Forbidden Jungle river. Completing this nets you a Power Cell and access to Sandover Village's Speedboat for island transport.

Catch the Sculptor's Muse

Your initial Misty Island objective involves retrieving the Sculptor's Lost Muse. Through previous Village dialogue, you'll recognize this golden creature resembles Daxter in size and shape. Indeed, you'll spot the Muse near the arrival docks—though catching this nimble target requires skillful pursuit. Employ roll jumps throughout the opening island section to close the distance.

Successful chase tactics involve demolishing large bones along the Muse's path to create bridges, memorizing its route, and mastering necessary platforming. Time your roll jumps to intercept when it makes sharp turns. After capture, return it to Sandover Village's Sculptor for a Power Cell—though consider delaying this delivery until completing other island objectives.

Use Blue Eco to Reach the Power Cell

After locating the Muse, backtrack to its initial sighting spot and turn right to discover a platforming section featuring blue eco orbs leading to a Precursor Door. Collect maximum Blue Eco while circling right, temporarily bypassing the door to reach the Precursor Platform (see image 3). When charged with Blue Eco, touching this platform launches you across the gap to claim the Power Cell.

Return to the Dark Eco Pool

Our next Power Cell requires revisiting the adventure's origin point, though first you must survive an arena battle. With Blue Eco charged, approach the large Precursor Door mentioned previously. Inside, waves of Lurkers attack while bombarding the arena with explosives from above. Utilize dropped Red Eco for stronger attacks and constant movement to evade projectiles. Subsequent victory makes stairs appear, granting access to the Dark Eco Pool's Power Cell.

Climb the Lurker Ship

Exiting the arena, turn right to discover the path toward Misty Island's Bay containing a Lurker Ship. Cross the connecting bridge and ascend the vessel's right side to reach the crow's nest and secure another Power Cell.

Stop the Cannon

Progressing upwards from the ship, navigate the ramp while evading Lurker-launched logs—jumping over rolling ones and ducking beneath bouncing ones. Use side platforms for strategic pauses. Upon reaching the summit, defeat the two Lurkers operating the cannon to earn a Power Cell. While there, utilize the cannon to blast open metallic containers in the arena below for additional Precursor Orbs.

Destroy the Balloon Lurkers

With the cannon neutralized, mount a Zoomer to eliminate airborne Balloon Lurkers patrolling the bay. Return to the Zoomer transporter pad (accessed via the opposite bridge from the Lurker Ship boarding point) and ride into the bay. Carefully collide with balloon pilots while avoiding adjacent explosive mines—use precise braking, acceleration and hopping maneuvers. Approaching from sides creates safer attack angles. Since balloons follow predetermined paths unaffected by Jak, wait for ideal positioning.

Eliminating five Balloon Lurkers rewards a Power Cell.

Use the Zoomer to Reach the Power Cell

With skies cleared, target the floating Power Cell by ascending the ramp (image 1), turning right, and circling the rock formation (image 2). Accelerate toward the ledge and execute a perfectly timed hop before takeoff to grab both Precursor Orbs and the Power Cell.

Free 7 Scout Flies

The final challenge involves collecting seven hidden Scout Flies. The first appears along the Muse's chase route—when passing a seesaw with a boulder, board the opposite end and ground pound to launch yourself upward via the falling rock, reaching the cliffside Scout Fly Box.

Two more Scout Fly Boxes cluster near the arena door's Blue Eco platforming section. Traverse the crumbling path (shown above) for one, while the other hides through the adjacent left gap.

Another Scout Fly Box awaits left of the arena exit—use the path's left-side seesaw to scale cliffs overlooking the bay.

Two additional boxes reside near the Lurker Ship: one immediately past the boarding bridge, another halfway up the log-rolling ramp on a side platform.

The final Scout Fly Box appears during Zoomer bay exploration near the previously mentioned ramp's summit. With all collected, simply deliver the Muse to Sandover's Sculptor to complete Misty Island's challenges.
