Marvel Rivals: New Features and Events
Switch Shader Compilation Mode
NetEase is rolling out an experimental feature to enhance Marvel Rivals’ performance and reduce memory usage. On April 30, Marvel Rivals shared via Twitter (X) that the Switch Shader Compilation Mode is coming soon, designed to improve gameplay, particularly for players with lower RAM or those experiencing FPS issues.
A detailed blog post on the Marvel Rivals website outlines what players can expect from this feature. It addresses player concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory demands during gameplay.
The blog states, “To tackle memory overload, Season 2 introduces the Switch Shader Compilation Mode, available via the PC launcher.” This feature is ideal for players with 16GB of RAM or less.
When activated, the feature delivers these improvements:
● Shader compilation runs only upon first launching the game after a new version or graphics driver update.
● Memory usage is significantly lowered, reducing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.
Developers have noted minor issues with this feature, such as temporary abnormal rendering of materials at the start of matches, which resolves quickly. Some stutters may occur but typically normalize during gameplay.
