
Marvel Rivals Receives Pre-Season 1 Balance Patch with Buffs and Nerfs
NetEase has deployed a balance patch for Marvel Rivals ahead of Season 1's January 10th launch. This update features adjustments to numerous characters and team-up abilities, addressing community feedback and fine-tuning gameplay.
Marvel Rivals, a popular hero shooter released late in 2024, has quickly gained traction. Its roster of iconic Marvel characters and team-based mechanics, including payloads and capture points, are key to its success. Season 1, focusing on the Fantastic Four, is on the horizon, but this pre-season patch offers significant changes to prepare players.
The patch introduces a wide range of adjustments across all hero categories. Several Duelists, including Black Panther, Hawkeye, Hela, and Scarlet Witch, received minor nerfs. Conversely, Black Widow, Magik, Moon Knight, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier received buffs, impacting health, cooldown times, and ability effectiveness. A notable improvement is the buff to Storm, previously considered underpowered, enhancing her Bolt Rush damage and Wind Blade speed.
Vanguards also see adjustments. Captain America and Thor receive health boosts, while Venom's Feast of the Abyss damage is increased. Strategists like Cloak & Dagger, Jeff the Land Shark, Luna Snow, Mantis, and Rocket Raccoon also undergo changes, affecting cooldowns, healing, and damage output.
Team-up abilities, activated by specific hero combinations, also receive tweaks. Some team-ups, such as Hawkeye/Black Widow and Hela/Thor/Loki, see reduced season bonuses. Others, including Rocket Raccoon/Punisher/Winter Soldier and Thor/Storm/Captain America, experience cooldown reductions.

- Thor: Increased base health, added immunity to control effects during God of Thunder.
- Hulk: Reduced Indestructible Guard shield value.
- Venom: Increased Symbiotic Resilience health ratio, increased Feast of the Abyss damage.

- Cloak & Dagger: Reduced Dagger Storm cooldown, increased Eternal Bond dashes.
- Jeff the Land Shark: Adjusted It's Jeff! range, increased Joyful Splash healing.
- Luna Snow: Increased Fate of Both Worlds switching interval.
- Mantis: Reduced Nature's Favor movement boost.
