Marvel Snap Deck Guide: September 2024 Edition
This month's Marvel Snap (Free) meta analysis arrives a little early to compensate for last month's delay. A new season brings new cards, and the game's balance is about to shift. While last month saw a relatively balanced state, the introduction of new cards, particularly the Amazing Spider-Season and the Activate ability, is poised to shake things up. Remember, today's top deck might be obsolete tomorrow! This guide offers current strategies, but experimentation remains key.
Most decks listed assume a complete card collection. Five top-tier decks and a couple of more accessible, fun options are included. The Young Avengers cards haven't caused a major upheaval, with exceptions like Kate Bishop and Marvel Boy. However, the new season's additions are already making a significant impact.
1. Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
This surprisingly strong Kazoo deck utilizes low-cost cards buffed by Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, while Gilgamesh thrives in this high-buff environment. Kate Bishop offers additional utility, and Mockingbird provides a powerful late-game play.
2. Silver Surfer Still Never Dies, Part II
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
The enduring Silver Surfer deck receives minor adjustments. Nova/Killmonger provide early boosts, Forge enhances Brood's clones, Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw benefits from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova steals opponent's power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secure the win. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
3. Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
This Ongoing archetype deck utilizes cards with Ongoing abilities, boosted by Spectrum's final-turn buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing combo is particularly effective, with Luke protecting against US Agent. Cosmo's utility is expected to increase.
4. Discard Dracula
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
This classic Apocalypse Discard deck features Moon Knight, enhanced by his recent buff. Morbius and Dracula are the key cards, aiming for a final-turn Apocalypse play consumed by Dracula for a powerful finish.
5. Destroy
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck, featuring Attuma (buffed recently), focuses on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gaining extra energy with X-23, and finishing with Nimrod or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
6. Darkhawk Is Back (Did He Ever Leave?)
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
A fun Darkhawk deck utilizing classic combos with Korg and Rockslide, spoiler cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, and discard effects to reduce Stature's cost.
7. Budget Kazar
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly Kazar deck, lacking the power of the top-tier version but providing valuable experience with the Kazar/Blue Marvel combo and Onslaught.
The upcoming month promises significant meta shifts due to the new season and potential balance changes. The Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man are expected to have a major impact. Happy Snapping!
