Get ready for another round of fatalities! A first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 has been revealed.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon unveiled a poster featuring Urban, styled as a faux Johnny Cage movie poster, complete with the over-the-top action one would expect from the character. The poster cleverly promotes the real Mortal Kombat 2 film.
This direct sequel to the 2021 reboot builds upon the story of Cole Young (Lewis Tan), Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada), and Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim). Joining the cast are several newcomers: Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.

While plot details remain under wraps, the vast Mortal Kombat video game lore provides ample source material for the sequel. The first film, initially intended for theatrical release, premiered on HBO Max due to the pandemic. However, Mortal Kombat 2 is slated for a theatrical release on October 24, 2025.
Our review of the first Mortal Kombat film awarded it a 7/10, praising its "spectacular display of blood, guts, and effects-heavy martial arts battles.”
