Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's initial foray into the Star Wars franchise, is set to close its doors just over a year after its launch on iOS and Android platforms. The game, which debuted in June 2024, quickly captured attention with its unique blend of game show flair and innovative takes on classic Star Wars characters.
However, it has now been confirmed that Star Wars: Hunters will cease operations on October 1st of this year. Before the shutdown, a final content update is scheduled for release on April 15th. In response to the closure, Zynga has announced that in-game currency will be eligible for refunds, and several seasonal events will be rerun as part of an extended season three.
Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of the last hunter, Tuya, will still have the chance to experience them in multiplayer mode. Tuya will be introduced in the final content update and will be available to all players at no cost from the outset.

The End of the Journey
The announcement of Star Wars: Hunters' closure came as a surprise to many, as there were few, if any, signs that the game was underperforming. Given Zynga's robust reputation, it suggests that there might be deeper reasons behind the decision to discontinue the game.
One possible explanation could be the saturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre, coupled with a mismatch in audience expectations. The typical Star Wars fanbase is aging, and the demand for a fast-paced, multiplayer mobile experience might not align with their preferences.
