In the latest "here comes a new remake" news—or, if you're a bit more optimistic, "here comes another Stephen King movie" news—a brand new adaptation of Cujo is about to bare its teeth.
Netflix is gearing up to produce a fresh film version of Stephen King's gripping tale, according to Deadline. They've tapped Vertigo Entertainment founder and producer Roy Lee to bring this project to life. However, it's still in its early stages, with no writers, directors, or cast members announced yet.
Stephen King’s novel Cujo was first published in 1981 and swiftly adapted into a 1983 cult classic horror film by Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner, directed by Lewis Teague. The story centers on a devoted mother, portrayed by Dee Wallace, who will go to any lengths to protect her young son from a rabid dog. Trapped in a car with a dead engine, the duo battles for survival as Cujo, once a sweet pet turned deadly after being bitten by a rabid bat, stalks them relentlessly from outside. The threat of heatstroke adds another layer of tension to their harrowing ordeal.

Additionally, the IT prequel series Welcome to Derry is set to premiere on HBO. The iconic horror film Carrie is also being reimagined as an eight-episode series on Prime Video, helmed by horror maestro Mike Flanagan.
