After a strong Xbox Developer Direct to kick off 2025, the future looks bright for Microsoft and its impressive array of first-party studios. With a rich history and exciting future prospects, the Xbox game series have much to offer. Whether you're reminiscing about the glory days of the Xbox 360 or eagerly anticipating new releases on other platforms, there's something for everyone. Thanks to Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the selection of legendary game series has expanded significantly. Here's a curated tier list, focusing on series that have had more than one entry, celebrating both their historical impact and current relevance.
Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List
For me, Doom is an undeniable S-tier choice. The recent entries have been some of my favorite first-person shooters, and the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages looks promising. Forza Horizon also secures a spot in the S tier; these games are, perhaps outside of Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, the best racing experiences I've had. While Halo lands in the A tier, classics like Halo 2 and Halo 3 are among the finest campaign shooters ever, but recent inconsistencies prevent it from reaching the top. I lean more towards Fallout than The Elder Scrolls, preferring a set of power armor over a dragon any day.
If you disagree with my rankings, perhaps you're a staunch supporter of Gears of War or have a soft spot for Fuzion Frenzy. Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.
