Balatro: Poker Meets Solitaire, Now on Android

The indie sensation Balatro has made its way to Android devices, following its successful launch on consoles and PC earlier in February 2024. Published by Playstack and developed by LocalThunk, this game has quickly captured the hearts of players around the world with its addictive gameplay.

Balatro brings a fresh twist to traditional card games such as Poker and Solitaire, blending them into a deck-building roguelike experience. Your goal is to build the most effective poker hands while navigating through challenges posed by bosses known as ‘Blinds,’ which impose new restrictions each round. The ultimate challenge is to outlast these Blinds and reach the final showdown at Ante 8’s Boss Blind.

What Are The Rules In Balatro?

In Balatro, you're pitted against these Blinds, each round bringing a unique set of hurdles. Your strategy revolves around collecting chips and crafting powerful poker hands to overcome these obstacles. As you progress, new Jokers join your deck, each with unique abilities that can either disrupt your opponents or provide you with a significant edge. For example, a particular Joker might multiply your score or grant you additional in-game currency for the shop.

You'll have the opportunity to fine-tune your deck with a variety of special cards. Planet cards can enhance specific poker hands, allowing you to level up those hands for greater effectiveness. On the other hand, Tarot cards can alter a card's rank or suit and sometimes add extra chips to your total.

Balatro features two gameplay modes: Campaign and Challenge. With over 150 Jokers to discover, every playthrough offers a fresh experience. Get a peek at the game's unique atmosphere in the launch trailer below:

A Poker-Themed Roguelike Deck-Building

Balatro merges strategic gameplay with the unpredictability of a deck of cards. The constant introduction of new Jokers and bonus hands keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting. Visually, the game embraces a nostalgic pixel art style reminiscent of old-school CRT displays.

If you're a fan of roguelikes and enjoy deck-building, Balatro is a must-try. It's now available on the Google Play Store for $9.99.
