Oni Press continues its successful EC Comics revival with the upcoming vampire series, Blood Type. Launching this summer (2025), Blood Type expands on a story from the Epitaphs From the Abyss anthology.
IGN exclusively reveals the cover art for Blood Type #1:
The series, the first of several planned EC Comics spin-offs, features writing by Corinna Bechko (known for Cruel Universe and Green Lantern: Earth One) and art by Andrea Sorrentino (Gideon Falls, Old Man Logan), with colors by Dave Stewart (Hellboy). Multiple cover variants will be available, featuring artwork from Sorrentino, Miguel Mercado (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Albert Monteys (Universe!), and Naomi Franq (Black Hammer: Barbalien).
Oni Press provides this synopsis:
WHEN YOU'RE A VAMPIRE, EVERYBODY SUCKS . . . SOONER OR LATER! Meet Ada, an immortal vampire whose past catches up with her at a Caribbean resort. This idyllic paradise, filled with wealthy tourists and superstitious locals, offers a plentiful hunting ground for Ada. But as she hunts, she becomes entangled in a deadly game, facing a new kind of predator driven by greed and power. Who will survive this clash, and what will remain?
Bechko states in the press release: “Horror is where I feel most at home. With Blood Type, we've crafted a wicked tale expanding on a character I adore. She's a vampire, but not your typical romantic one. She's ready to conquer a tropical paradise.”
Sorrentino adds: “Horror is my thing. The chance to collaborate with EC Comics, a giant in horror comics, on this new limited series is an honor. I'm excited to work with Corinna Bechko and Dave Stewart on this project.”
Blood Type #1 releases June 18, 2025. A reprint of the original Blood Type short story will appear in the Free Comic Book Day 2025 special, EC Presents: Blood Type #0.
