With the release of Days Gone Remastered on the horizon, Sony's Bend Studio has shared insights into the enhanced accessibility features set to be included in this updated version of the game. One of the standout features is the ability to adjust the Game Speed, allowing players to slow down the action when things get intense. This option is particularly beneficial for those who find high-pressure situations challenging.
In a detailed post on the PlayStation Blog, Kevin McAllister, the Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, elaborated on these accessibility enhancements. The Game Speed can be adjusted from 100% down to 75%, 50%, and even 25%, aiming to help players who may feel overwhelmed, especially when combating the game's infamous Freaker hordes. "Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers," McAllister explained. He further noted that with the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, these accessibility features will make the unique combat experience more inclusive.
Beyond Game Speed adjustments, Days Gone Remastered will boast a range of other accessibility options. These include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE feature, previously exclusive to the Easy difficulty setting, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
While these enhancements are primarily aimed at the PS5 version, Bend Studio has confirmed that most of these new accessibility features will also be rolled out to the PC version of Days Gone. However, certain features like feedback and control customization will require a compatible controller.
Days Gone Remastered was officially announced in February, promising not only these accessibility improvements but also additional features such as an enhanced photo mode, permadeath, and speedrun options. This remastered edition of the 2019 post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested action-adventure game is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Players who already own the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 remastered version for just $10.
