The recently released Elden Ring: Nightreign overview trailer has given fans a deeper look into the game’s mechanics, characters, and features ahead of its launch. From new character classes to base customization and returning Soulsborne cosmetics, the trailer teases a rich co-op survival experience set in the dark fantasy world of Limveld.
As the release date draws near, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have unveiled a detailed 10-minute overview trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign. The trailer debuted on May 2, offering players an in-depth look at the game's lore, mechanics, and structure.
In Elden Ring: Nightreign, players take on the role of Nightfarers—elite warriors tasked with surviving three perilous nights in the hostile land of Limveld. During the day, players explore, gather resources, and prepare for nightly confrontations against powerful Nightlords and hordes of enemies.
Each playthrough introduces procedural changes to the map, ensuring that no two expeditions are the same. Enemy types, treasure locations, and even environmental hazards such as meteor strikes or volcanic eruptions are randomized, keeping gameplay fresh and unpredictable.
At the end of each three-day cycle, players must face off against a formidable Nightlord. Success allows them to escape Limveld with valuable relics and memories, while failure sends them back empty-handed.
Two previously unseen character classes were teased in the trailer, adding further excitement to the growing roster of Nightfarers.
One of these is Executor, a heavily armored knight wielding a sword capable of channeling elemental energy. A short clip shows him expertly parrying and countering an enemy attack.
The second mystery character—a silver-haired female warrior—was briefly shown playing a harp-like instrument. While details about her combat abilities remain under wraps, this enigmatic figure hints at magical or support-based gameplay.
More information on both characters is expected in upcoming character-focused trailers leading up to launch.
Before each expedition, players return to the hidden Roundtable Hold, a safe zone where they can rest, equip relics, purchase supplies, and customize their appearance.
Relics—powerful passive items obtained through successful runs—offer unique buffs and gameplay modifiers. Experimenting with different relic combinations allows players to tailor their builds and strategies.
A Jar Merchant within the Roundtable sells additional relics using a currency called Murk, earned through combat and exploration.
Players can also change their outfits using the "fitting mirror." These costumes are purely cosmetic but include nostalgic nods to classic Dark Souls characters like Solaire of Astoria, Faraam, and Ringfinger Leonhard.
Additionally, players collect Fragments of Lost Memories during expeditions. These story-driven items unlock new objectives and reveal insights into each Nightfarer’s past, motivations, and purpose.
