The developers of Marvel Rivals have exciting news for fans: starting from Season 3, they plan to introduce new heroes on a monthly basis. This shift aims to keep the game as vibrant and engaging as it was at launch. NetEase, the game's developer, shared these plans during the Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, alongside other significant updates.
New Heroes Every Month

In an effort to maintain the game's freshness, NetEase has decided to release a new hero every month, moving away from their initial plan of two heroes per season. Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong announced this change, which will also see each season shortened from three months to two. Guangguang stated, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."

The decision to introduce heroes more frequently comes after feedback from the community and discussions on social media. Guangguang acknowledged the pressure to keep the game exciting and mentioned that the team is also considering new game modes to enhance the player experience. If implemented, this could lead to the addition of up to 12 new heroes annually. Balancing these new heroes poses a challenge, but Guangguang assured fans that the team is committed to using key metric data, including pick rates, win rates, and more, to ensure fair gameplay.
Season 2 Details and Future Plans

Season 2, dubbed Hellfire Gala, introduces the new hero Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic abilities and the power to turn objects into diamonds. She will join the game as a Vanguard. The season's theme revolves around a grand celebration on the Mutant haven, Living Island Krakoa, where heroes don new, elegant skins inspired by the Hellfire Club, a group of wealthy elites from the Marvel universe.

Following Emma Frost's debut, Season 2.5 will feature the arrival of Ultron, a notorious Marvel villain. The Hellfire Gala trailer teases Ultron's robots disrupting the party, hinting at a thrilling new chapter. However, details about Ultron's role remain scarce at this time.
Thor’s Lord of Asgard and Hawkeye’s Ronin Skins Available Now!
Marvel Rivals took to Twitter (X) on April 4 to announce the availability of new skins for Thor and Hawkeye. Thor’s Lord of Asgard skin draws inspiration from his comic revival by Odin, while Hawkeye’s Ronin skin reflects his time as a vigilante samurai. The Thor Rune King bundle includes the Rune King costume, spray, nameplate, The Omniscient MVP, and Well of Mimir emote. The Hawkeye Ronin bundle features the Ronin skin, spray, nameplate, Deadly Rain MVP, and Hone to Perfection emote.
