In the thrilling world of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, it's not just raw power that reigns supreme. With the right blend of speed and precision, even the most formidable monsters can be brought down. This is where the Dual Blades truly shine, offering hunters a dynamic way to engage their prey. Here's how to master the Dual Blades and maximize your effectiveness in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds

Triangle/Y + Circle/B (In Demon Mode)
Blade Dance I, II, III
Unleash these powerful chained attacks in Demon Mode, which will consume the Demon Gauge.
Triangle/Y + Circle/B (In Archdemon Mode)
Demon Flurry I, II
Execute a series of swift attacks available only in Archdemon Mode. These attacks also consume the Demon Gauge and can be directed using the analog stick.
Cross/A (During Demon/Archdemon Mode)
Demon Dodge
Perform a faster-than-normal dodge in either mode. A successful Perfect Evade allows attacking while dodging and provides a short-term damage buff. Demon Dodge does not consume the Demon Gauge in Demon Mode.
L2/LT + R1/RB
Focus Strike: Turning Tide
Execute a powerful slashing attack that targets wounds. Hitting a monster's wound triggers a Midair Spinning Blade Dance, capable of destroying multiple wounds across the monster's body.
Demon Mode/Demon Gauge and Archdemon Mode
The Dual Blades feature a unique Demon Gauge mechanic. Activating Demon Mode boosts your attack, movement speed, and evasion, while providing knockback immunity. However, it continuously drains your stamina, ending when stamina runs out or manually canceled.
By landing attacks in Demon Mode, you fill the Demon Gauge. Once full, you transition into Archdemon Mode, where the gauge depletes over time and can be consumed by specific attacks, allowing for even more potent strikes. Both modes can be utilized simultaneously, and when mounted on a monster, the Demon Gauge stops decreasing, giving you strategic flexibility.
Demon Dodge
Following a Perfect Evade, you enter an empowered state known as Demon Dodge. This not only increases your regular and elemental damage but also allows you to attack while dodging. Demon Dodge provides a 12-second damage buff, and subsequent dodges cause damage as you spin forward.
Combos

Mastering the Dual Blades involves understanding how to chain attacks effectively within the Demon and Archdemon Modes for maximum damage output.
Basic Combo
Start with a simple yet effective combo by pressing Triangle/Y three times, executing a sequence of Double Slash, Double Slash Return Stroke, and Circle Slash. This combo is versatile and reliable in various combat scenarios. Alternatively, use the Circle/B Demon Flurry Rush – Spinning Slash – Double Roundslash combo to quickly fill your Demon Gauge.
Demon Mode Basic Combo
In Demon Mode, your basic attacks become more potent and faster. Chain Demon Fangs, Twofold Demon Slash, and Sixfold Demon Slash, then finish with Triangle/Y + Circle/B for Demon Flurry I.
Archdemon Mode Blade Dance Combo
Once your Demon Gauge is full, enter Archdemon Mode for swift, concentrated attacks. Begin with Blade Dance (Triangle/Y + Circle/B) in Demon Mode, then press R2/RT four more times for Demon Flurry I into Blade Dance II, and conclude with Demon Flurry II and Blade Dance III. This seamless transition between modes maximizes your damage output.
Dual Blade Tips

With the Dual Blades, seamless transitions between Demon and Archdemon Modes are key to unleashing your full potential.
Always Follow Up
Start with the basic Demon Flurry Rush combo (Circle/B + Circle/B + Circle/B), then transition into a full Demon or Archdemon Mode combo with three sets of Triangle/Y + Circle/B. This strategy fills your Demon Gauge quickly and converts it into immediate, high-impact damage.
Keep Your Stamina Up
Maintaining ample stamina is crucial for prolonged use of Demon Mode. To manage stamina effectively, exit the mode to recover or use Focus Strike on monster wounds, which temporarily halts stamina drain while filling the Demon Gauge, setting you up for more aggressive attacks.
Dodging in Between Attacks
Given the lack of a reliable defense mechanism, dodging becomes your primary means of survival. The Dual Blades offer exceptional mobility, allowing you to dodge out of most attacks and combos. Avoid overcommitting to early attacks; instead, wait for the right moment to strike.
Ensure Sharpness
The continuous flurry of attacks with Dual Blades quickly dulls their sharpness. Incorporating the Speed Sharpening skill into your build can significantly reduce downtime, allowing you to swiftly return to the fray.
