Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action game, will notably omit the poisonous swamps characteristic of many From Software titles. This was confirmed by product manager Yasuhiro Kitao during a recent press interview. While a swamp-like area was featured in the trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The absence of traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the lack of involvement from Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president and a known enthusiast of such environments, whose influence is evident in the swamp locations of both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki did not participate in Nightreign's development.

Interestingly, a two-player mode, currently absent from the announced one-player and three-player options, remains under consideration. The developers initially excluded it due to content balancing difficulties. However, From Software is actively exploring the possibility of adding a two-player mode before the game's release.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
