Former The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 developers at Rebel Wolves have unveiled their ambitious new project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not aiming for a full-scale AAA release, the team's aspirations are undeniably high.
Rebel Wolves' founder, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, clarified the studio's goal: achieving Witcher 3-level quality, albeit on a smaller, more manageable scale. He stated, “We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that’s our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we’re creating something more compact yet just as polished.”
The game's estimated playtime is a significant 30-40 hours. Tomaszkiewicz addressed comparisons to The Witcher 3's extensive playtime, saying, “Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, which was meant to last 100+ hours but often exceeded 200-300 hours, is crazy. But is size what makes a game AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale really matter?” He further dismissed the industry's often-used "AAA" and "AAAA" labels as ultimately meaningless.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG centered around a half-vampire racing against time. With a compelling 30-day/30-night deadline to save his loved ones, the game promises a focused, yet smooth gameplay experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it's slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, though a concrete release date is yet to be announced.
