The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the safer Cursed Possessions in *Phasmophobia* due to its favorable risk-reward ratio. Despite changes from game updates, it remains a valuable tool for ghost hunters. The primary function of the Voodoo Doll is to provoke the ghost into performing evidence-related actions. This is achieved by inserting pins into the doll, one at a time, which can be particularly useful when dealing with a ghost that's being stubborn or quiet. By using the doll, you can encourage the ghost to reveal crucial evidence like EMF5 readings or Ultraviolet prints.
The Voodoo Doll comes with 10 pins, each of which, when inserted, will deplete 5% of the user's sanity. Inserting all pins could drain up to 50% of your sanity, significantly increasing the risk of ghost hunts. The most critical risk is associated with the pin located in the doll's heart. Inserting this pin, which is randomly selected, will instantly drop your sanity by 10% and trigger a Cursed Hunt. During a Cursed Hunt, the ghost will spawn near your location and pursue you for an extended period, 20 seconds longer than a normal hunt.
Despite these risks, the Voodoo Doll can be a worthwhile tool for gathering evidence, provided you are well-prepared and cautious in its use.

Cursed Possessions, often referred to as "Cursed Objects," are unique items in *Phasmophobia* that can randomly appear on any map, influenced by difficulty settings or Challenge Mode. Unlike regular equipment, which helps locate ghosts and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate ghost behavior but at a much higher risk to your character.
The safety of using these objects varies based on their specific abilities, and it's up to you and your team to decide whether to engage with them. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them. Typically, only one Cursed Possession will spawn per contract, though this can be altered in Custom settings.
There are seven different Cursed Objects available in the game:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
