This contrasts sharply with Sony and Nintendo's approach. Recent showcases like State of Play focused exclusively on PlayStation platforms, even for multiplatform titles such as Monster Hunter Wilds, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. This reinforces Sony's long-standing strategy of prioritizing its own console ecosystem.
Xbox head Phil Spencer clarified this change in an interview with XboxEra. He emphasized transparency and the goal of reaching a wider audience, stating that showcasing games on all available platforms, including PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, is a priority. While acknowledging platform differences, Spencer highlighted the importance of focusing on game accessibility.
Spencer's statement suggests future Xbox showcases will likely include PlayStation 5 and potentially Nintendo Switch 2 logos alongside Xbox for upcoming titles like Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, and Call of Duty.
