This guide explores the Paralyze condition in Pokémon TCG Pocket, detailing its mechanics, cures, and optimal deck strategies.
What is Paralyzed in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

The Paralyzed status renders an opponent's Active Pokémon immobile for a single turn, preventing attacks and retreats. This effect automatically dissipates before the opponent's next turn begins.
Paralyzed vs. Asleep
Both Paralyzed and Asleep prevent attacks and retreats. However, Paralyzed resolves automatically, while Asleep requires a coin flip or strategic intervention (like evolution or forced retreat) for recovery.
Paralyzed in Pokémon Pocket vs. Physical PTCG
Unlike the physical TCG where cards like Full Heal can cure Paralysis, Pokémon TCG Pocket currently lacks direct counters. The core mechanic—immobility for one turn—remains consistent.
Pokémon with Paralyze Ability

Currently, only three Genetic Apex cards inflict Paralysis: Pincurchin, Elektross, and Articuno. Each uses a coin flip, making it a chance-based effect rather than a reliable deck foundation.
Curing Paralysis

Four methods exist to cure Paralysis:
- Time: The effect ends automatically at the start of your next turn.
- Evolution: Evolving the affected Pokémon instantly removes Paralysis.
- Retreat: Retreating the Pokémon removes the condition (as Bench Pokémon cannot have Special Conditions). Cards like Koga can facilitate this.
- Support Cards: Currently, only Koga offers a direct counter, but only for Weezing or Muk.
Best Paralyze Deck

Paralysis alone isn't a strong deck archetype. Combining it with Asleep, however, creates a powerful strategy. An Articuno & Frosmoth deck, leveraging Articuno, Frosmoth, and Wigglytuff ex attacks, offers a potent Paralyze/Asleep combination.

This deck utilizes the synergy between Paralysis and Asleep to disrupt the opponent's strategy. Remember that the success of this deck relies heavily on coin flips.
