A Consistent Stream of Diverse AC Experiences
Guillemot's interview revealed plans for a series of remakes designed to modernize older Assassin's Creed games, though specific titles remain unannounced. He emphasized the enduring richness of the older game worlds. The company aims for a more regular release schedule for Assassin's Creed games, but with diverse gameplay experiences year to year.
Beyond remakes, Guillemot promised a variety of upcoming Assassin's Creed experiences. Titles like Assassin's Creed Hexe (set in 16th-century Europe, targeting a 2026 release), the mobile game Assassin's Creed Jade (expected in 2025), and Assassin's Creed Shadows (set in feudal Japan, releasing November 15, 2024) promise unique gameplay.
Ubisoft's history includes previous remastering efforts, such as Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection (2016) and Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered (2018). While rumors of an Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake circulated last year, official confirmation is pending.
Embracing Generative AI
Guillemot also discussed technological advancements in game development. He cited Assassin's Creed Shadows' dynamic weather system as an example of enhanced gameplay and visuals. He underscored his belief in the transformative potential of generative AI to enrich game worlds, particularly in creating more intelligent and interactive NPCs and environments. He envisions this technology enhancing the dynamism of future open worlds.
