Dynasty Warriors Origins: Optimal Difficulty Setting Guide

May 03,2025 Author: Allison

Dynasty Warriors games, known for their hack-and-slash combat, demand a certain level of skill from players. Acknowledging this, Dynasty Warriors: Origins offers four difficulty settings, enabling players to customize the challenge according to their expertise and desired gaming experience. As this game marks a reboot, both newcomers and seasoned players may be uncertain about selecting the optimal difficulty level. The ideal choice varies based on individual skill levels and the level of challenge sought from the game.

All Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Settings

Dynasty Warriors: Origins features four difficulty settings, though initially, only three are accessible. Upon starting the game, players can select from Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The fourth setting, Ultimate Warrior (very hard), becomes available after completing one of the three main faction scenarios.

While there's a Trophy/Achievement for completing a battle on Ultimate Warrior, there are no difficulty-specific rewards for finishing the main campaign.

Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?

For those new to action-adventure games or focused on enjoying the storyline, Historian is the ideal choice. Wayfarer suits most players, including those with limited experience with Musou/Warriors games. Fans of the series might start with Hero, while Musou masters could consider stepping up to Ultimate Warrior once unlocked, to maintain a high challenge level while completing additional missions and scenarios.

Players can adjust the difficulty between battles via the config menu without affecting the story, should they find the game too challenging or too easy.

Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

In Historian mode, all enemy attacks are blockable, and it's easier to stagger enemies, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. On the other hand, Hero mode features stronger, more aggressive enemies, reduced windows for parries and perfect evades, and no Meat Bun drops. Blocking in this mode depletes bravery, shortens the time to influence battles, and slightly reduces Skill Points and gold earned. Ultimate Warrior escalates these challenges further, with even tighter parry and evade windows and significantly reduced battle earnings.
