FromSoftware官方证实，备受期待的《艾尔登法环：夜幕统治》（Elden Ring Nightreign）将不会包含游戏内留言系统，这一标志性的FromSoftware特色功能将缺席新作。开发团队表示，此举纯属出于实际考虑。
在以往的FromSoftware游戏中，玩家可以通过预设词语组合，留下异步留言与其他玩家互动，无论是寻求帮助、设置陷阱，还是分享幽默，这一系统都极大地提升了玩家互动性，许多玩家将其视为现代魂系游戏体验的重要组成部分。
然而，游戏总监石崎准也（Junya Ishizaki）在1月3日接受IGN日本采访时确认，这一热门功能将不会出现在《艾尔登法环：夜幕统治》中。他解释说，游戏以多人模式为核心设计，异步留言系统与其格格不入，玩家在游戏中根本没有足够时间撰写和阅读留言。
《夜幕统治》并非完全摒弃异步功能
与动辄数小时的《艾尔登法环》不同，《艾尔登法环：夜幕统治》预计每次游玩时间约为40分钟。为了营造更紧张刺激的游戏体验，开发团队决定移除游戏内留言系统，以简化流程，优化节奏。
但这并不意味着游戏将完全抛弃前作的异步功能。事实上，一些经典的社区功能将回归，例如，血迹机制将以更强大的形式回归，玩家不仅可以看到其他玩家的死亡方式，甚至可以掠夺他们的灵魂。
FromSoftware力求打造“紧凑型”RPG
取消留言系统，限制玩家间的直接交流，与FromSoftware对这款游戏的整体愿景相符：与系列首作相比，《艾尔登法环：夜幕统治》将更注重紧张刺激的多人游戏体验。游戏采用三天结构的设计也源于这一目标。石崎准也表示，FromSoftware的目标是打造一款“紧凑型RPG”，内容丰富多样，尽量减少游戏中的停滞时间。
《艾尔登法环：夜幕统治》已在2024年的TGA展会上公布，预计将于2025年发售，但FromSoftware和万代南梦宫尚未公布更具体的发布时间。
