With Concord's August 23rd launch fast approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled details of the game's post-launch content roadmap. Discover Firewalk's updates and their expert gameplay tips below.
Concord's Post-Launch Roadmap: A Continuous Journey

Launching August 23rd on PS5 and PC, Concord's open beta has paved the way for a robust, day-one experience and a commitment to ongoing updates. Game Director Ryan Ellis promises a steady stream of new content, including characters, maps, game modes, story expansions, and features. He emphasizes, "Launch is just the beginning – the start of our vision for Concord and how we'll grow it with our players."
Unlike many hero shooters, Concord eschews the traditional Battle Pass system. Firewalk Studios explains, "Our focus is on a rewarding, day-one experience where playing, leveling up, and completing objectives yields meaningful rewards." This means no paywalled progression; rewards are earned through gameplay.
Concord Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)

Season 1: The Tempest, launching in October, will introduce a new playable Freegunner, a fresh map, additional Freegunner Variants, and more cosmetic rewards. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will enrich the Northstar crew's narrative.
An in-game store will also debut, offering purely cosmetic customization options with no impact on gameplay. Ellis assures players, "These items supplement the hundreds of earnable rewards and are entirely cosmetic and optional."
Season 2 and Beyond: A Year of Content
Season 2 is slated for January 2025, marking the start of a commitment to regular seasonal updates throughout Concord's first year. Ellis concludes, "We can't wait to share more about Season 1 before its October launch."
Mastering Concord: Crew Builder and Gameplay Strategies

Ellis also shared insights into optimal Concord gameplay, highlighting the Crew Builder system. Custom Crews comprise five unique Freegunners, with up to three copies of any Variant allowed. This allows for strategic team composition based on playstyle, game mode, and match challenges.
He explains that Crew Builder encourages diverse team roles. While traditional archetypes like Tank or Support are absent, each Freegunner delivers high DPS and excels in gunfights. Balancing Freegunners from different roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, recoil, cooldowns, and more. These roles are defined by their match impact: controlling areas, utilizing sightlines, and flanking.
