Battlefield Labs: Shaping the Future of Battlefield Through Community Collaboration

Battlefield Studios, in partnership with Electronic Arts (EA), has launched Battlefield Labs, a revolutionary player feedback platform designed to directly involve the community in shaping future Battlefield installments. Announced on February 3, 2025, this initiative marks a significant step towards collaborative game development.

A New Era of Player Influence

Recognizing the crucial development phase ahead, Battlefield Studios is seeking unprecedented community input. Selected players will act as integral testers, providing invaluable feedback on new features and mechanics for the next Battlefield title. The initial phase of Battlefield Labs will focus on players from European and North American servers, with registration now open.

"This game has immense potential," stated Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organization. "Battlefield Labs empowers our teams to unlock that potential through pre-alpha testing."

While participation is initially limited, Battlefield Studios assures regular updates will be shared with the broader community, ensuring everyone can follow the development journey. Future Battlefield titles are also planned to incorporate this collaborative approach.

The Battlefield Studios team comprises DICE (creators of the Battlefield franchise), Ripple Effect (developing a new Battlefield experience), Motive (developers of Star Wars Squadrons and Dead Space), and Criterion (renowned for racing games and Battlefield contributions).

Testing Core Gameplay Elements

Battlefield Labs will focus on iterative testing of key gameplay elements. The initial phase will concentrate on core combat, destruction, weapon balance, vehicle performance, gadget functionality, and map design within existing modes like Conquest and Breakthrough.

Conquest, a large-scale battle mode centered around capturing control points, utilizes a ticket-based system. Breakthrough, featuring attackers and defenders, also uses tickets, with attackers regaining tickets by securing sectors. The class system will also undergo refinement based on player feedback.
