The developers of inZOI have issued an apology for initially including Denuvo DRM in the game and have committed to its removal. This article delves into inZOI’s statement on the matter and their vision for fostering a highly moddable gaming environment.
inZOI Developer Addressed Denuvo DRM Concerns
inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM

The inZOI development team has confirmed the decision to remove Denuvo DRM from their game. Following the discovery of Denuvo in the Creative Studio mode demo, which sparked numerous reports over the past 24 hours, the team took swift action. Denuvo, an anti-tamper software, has long been a contentious issue in the gaming community, often criticized for its impact on game performance.
This DRM technology is intended to combat unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it challenging for individuals to pirate or crack the game.
In a detailed Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed the controversy surrounding the DRM. He announced that the upcoming Early Access build, set to launch on Friday, would be free of any DRM. "We initially implemented Denuvo to protect the game from illegal distribution, believing it would maintain fairness for those who purchased the game legitimately. However, after reviewing the community's feedback, it became clear that this did not meet our players' expectations," Kjun explained.

Kjun also expressed regret for not informing players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode demo. He acknowledged that while removing the DRM might increase the risk of the game being pirated, it would enhance inZOI's moddability, allowing players greater freedom to customize and create unique experiences. "We are convinced that fostering this freedom from the outset will lead to innovative and enduring enjoyment for our community," he stated.
inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game

inZOI's commitment to modding is a core aspect of their game development philosophy, which made the initial inclusion of Denuvo particularly surprising to players, as it typically restricts modding capabilities.
Kjun reiterated the team's dedication to making inZOI a highly moddable game. "As I stated during our Online Showcase, our goal is to support extensive modding. We plan to roll out our first phase of official mod support in May, enabling players to use tools like Maya and Blender to create custom content. This is just the start; we aim to broaden mod support throughout the game, allowing for a wide range of customizations and enhancements," he said.
He also mentioned that a forthcoming post would provide further details on modding. Krafton's focus on player feedback and their willingness to make adjustments underscores their commitment to delivering a top-quality gaming experience.
inZOI is slated for an Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC, with plans for a full launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release has yet to be announced.
